F.L.O.W.

I had never heard of this band prior to last night - these guys were pretty good...and, they have a guy that can blow some serious sax...as you'll hear/see in the first part of the second video...

Here is some of the video I took...

Do You Hear a RATL?

I made a last-minute decision to check out who was playing at Bogey's last night, and the band RATL was there.

I had seen them one time before, also at Bogey's, but it'd been quite a while. I spoke briefly with Doug (vocals) and Rich (new bass player apparently), both of whom I'd never met. Nice guys.

Bogey's can be a hit-or-miss type of place on Friday nights, crowd-wise, but these guys did a nice job, and you could tell people were diggin' it. They sounded really good...

Here's some video I took:

And The Beat Goes On...

Well, it appears that Dave Sams (formerly the drummer for the band GRIP) is again looking for a new band to jam with...

As I had blogged previously on July 26th, Dave had moved on to play drums with the band 'Serious Business'.

I guess that didn't work out quite as well as he'd planned. For whatever reason, Dave advises that they didn't click like he'd hoped, so he's 'back on the market', looking for a band that is ready to play out.

Stay tuned...Dave's a great drummer with a lot of motivation and desire to entertain the masses - he'll land with another band soon enough, I'm sure!

Slapshots...Live@575...Dead Or Alive?

So, what's going on with Slapshots/Live@575? Their website is down as of this writing, and their MySpace site is almost mocking the recent changes in ownership/management...

Anyone have a clue what's going on over there? I have driven by several times to see a vacant parking lot.

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

GRIP Midsummer Nights Dream Party - Little River Grill

Got a few notifications/invites to the GRIP gig at Little River on August 9th. Looks like I'm probably going to make it for a while...

However, PJs will not be part of my attire...clashes with the black boots.

700 South At Little River Grill

Here's some video I shot while at the Little River Grill last night. Unfortunately, I was too damn close to the PA, which negatively affected the audio...

Oh well - they still rocked!

(PS: A big high 5 goes out to the dude with the K-Fed/Brad Pitt hat, in the first video)

Take Me To The River

I went to see 700 South at Little River Grill last night - had a great time, and they definitely rocked the house...man, they are a tight, tight band...

I'll provide a little more detail later today, including some video I shot while there...

Gotta Love 80's Metal

Anyone who knows me well knows that I LOVE 80's 'hair band' music. That being said, I've been checking out the Blind Tiger websites and videos, and I have to say that I'm pretty damn impressed!

Taking into consideration that the sound quality of YouTube videos is crapola at best, they still sound really good! They must sound great live...

I've got to set aside a night to check them out...

GRIP Changes Their Lineup

It looks like GRIP has been making a lot of changes/additions to their lineup in recent weeks!

In June, drummer Dave Sams was 'disconnected' from the band after playing with them since 2006 or so, I think? However, Dave bounced back quickly and has joined the band 'Serious Business', and they are apparently gearing up to play out locally very soon. I wish them success!

Back in the world of GRIP, the new drummer is now Ross Nuckolls. According to the GRIP website, Ross became a "Contract Drummer" at age 18 and played and toured nationally for numerous groups and studio sessions during the next 10 year period. He took a long 15 year break from music and the road and came out of retirement when he heard of the GRIP opening.

GRIP has also added Doug Mowery's talents to the band. Doug will be running sound, playing Rhythym Guitar and singing backups. Doug is a very accomplished musician, playing Bass with local groups Six Figures, Blindspot and Mark Cook's 'Cookin' Blues'. He is very well-known in the local band scene.

Sounds like GRIP may be trying to take it to the next level...

The Metamorphosis Of MetaMurfosis

I've wanted to set up a blog site for some time now, but I've been in a quandary as to what direction I wanted to go with it. A blog site is only as good as one's willingness to keep up with it and hopefully keep it interesting.

So I've decided to give it a shot. I'm going to try to keep the site updated with information regarding local bands, venues, etc., including some occasional commentary and reviews on events and changes within the local band community.

Feel free to send me any relative information you might have to metamurfosis@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Dan
